American Indian Articles and Whatnots
As i sit here this early Sunday morning, I find myself being very amused by many of
the entry's of video's and music being done by American Indians on Youtube.com.   I
thought it would be fun to put some of my favorites here, maybe get some feedback
from you, maybe even send me your favorites or maybe you read a interesting
article you'd like to hear other opinions on.  Well this is the page for such things.   Of
course as I'm typing this I realize all my favorite Youtube.com links are on my other
computer so they will be added in a lil bit today lol.  I think this area would be a great
feedback area.  Let me know what you think.
Chief Smith's thoughts on Oklahoma Centennial-  The following was
written by Chadwick Smith, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation.  Published November 19,
2006.  I think this writing shows how American Indians
might view such celebrations as this
or 4th of July, to name just 2 of such style celebrations.  I was asked to give my opinion on
"The Westward Expansion" for a documentary on the Arch.  Needless to say my opinion was
not used lol. Some "Good ole" celebrations in America are tolerated but not joined with
enthusiasm by Many American Indians for obvious reasons :)
This is one of those, found a link that lead to others like it.
Youtube.com has a Native category with many American Indian
Video's either thoughts, music, and whatnots.  Here are just a
few that caught my interest.  I will add warnings on those I
think might be offensive (idea wise). (this is not a site to let
your child venture around in.  If you are under 18 please have
your parent help you with Youtube.com)
(*new) Hurricane dance off -This was just the trick to put a smile on my
face.
(*new) Hand drum competition-  Big River Cree 4 man Hand Drum
Competition
Crock Hunter video - This is a great way to remember a very entertaining and
seemingly good hearted individual, is a good funny.  This vid was sent to me and
basically the one that got me searching for American Indian videos on youtube.
Kiowa Flag Song -This is a wonderful video :) -"Kiowa elder, Evans Ray
Satepauhoodle, tells the history of the Kiowa Flag Song in Kiowa and English, sings
it, and then says the words slowly in Kiowa. This is intended for Kiowas who are
away from home or who have never had a chance to learn the Kiowa Flag Song."
Discovery Times- While this is certainly not the only topic I wished people to
think on when they think American Indian, but while watching it I hope you give a
thought to what was in these tribal cultures that created such pride in self, family,
and tribe.  That would create such a race,  proud enough to  stand their ground
against unbelievable odds.  This is our upbringing, our oral traditions and the
teachings of our elders that keep this pride alive in us today.
Amerika - the caption along side of this one reads "Dine' (Navajo) grandmothers
at Big Mountain resist relocation".  A powerful msg bringing to light some of the
troubles in todays Native America.
Native Stereotyping (funny) - this is a comedy, silly.  side caption reads
"Stereotyping the Native American to a whole new level. Specifically made to piss
off the ABC/Disney executives at the 2005 IAIA Summer Film Workshop in Santa Fe,
NM.
Describing American Indian Culture -  A short clip where an
American Indian trys to describe  American Indian culture to non Natives, a Lakota
specifically.  the clip is a trailer to a movie that looks very interesting.

Many more to come yet. If you have a favorite, send us the link
for us to add to this page.
This has nothing to do with anything but the fact that it had my husband and I

are just funny).
